Timothy Allergy
Timothy allergy is a common type of grass allergy. The source of the allergy is from the Timothy grass that is native to Asia and Europe. Recently, the grass is grown in North America as well. Grasses such as these produce pollen that is an extremely common allergen.
The Timothy allergen rapid test is a testing device for the qualitative determination of timothy specific Immunoglobin E (slgE) in human serum, plasma or whole blood. The test, in conjunction with other clinical observations, is intended to identify allergic symptoms caused by timothy-specific immunoglobin E (IgE) Type I hypersensitivity.

What Is It?
This is seasonal pollen that is everywhere around us. This common allergen is the main problem for many people. The pollen is so tiny, and the air will carry it around with ease. Anyone can inhale it without realizing they are exposed to it.
Every summer, people inhale Timothy pollen. It is very rare, or almost impossible, to avoid this pollen altogether.
You can recognize Timothy allergy by the common symptoms, which are:
- Asthma
- Cough
- Difficulty in breathing
- Fever
- Itchy eyes
- Itchy nose
- Puffed eyes
- Runny nose
- Sneezing
- Sore throat
- Watery eyes
Why Get Tested?
To save yourself from future trouble, it is a good idea to get tested. Tests can help determine if you are extremely allergic to Timothy grass or the pollen. This way, you will know for sure how to react if that plant is nearby. This is the ideal way to stay safe to avoid triggering any allergic reactions.
Typical allergy tests rely on the Skin Prick method. Doctors will insert possible triggers with a needle into the skin. If you are allergic to the pollen or the plant, the body will immediately react to it.
Another way you can test is with a blood test. A blood test can determine the status or the impact the allergen has on the body. It doesn’t irritate the skin the same way Skin Prick does.
Whatever type of test you decide to take, it is still a good way to examine your condition. You will know for sure how badly you are allergic to the plant or its pollen. The more you know, the faster you can react and get that allergy treated.
When to See a Doctor?
Some allergic reactions are often mild and not a serious cause for an alarm. But, in some cases, people need treatment. In these cases, the allergic reaction can’t be controlled. So, they will need additional medication. You might receive immunotherapy to manage the allergy better. It seems to be effective for allergies.
In some cases, allergies can affect your daily activities and reduce the quality of life. If left untreated, serious allergies can be life-threatening. That is why it is important to see a doctor.
Go see a doctor if you experience any allergic reactions immediately after inhaling the pollen. And seek treatment if you experience:
- Increased pulse
- An extreme drop in blood pressure
- Trouble breathing
- dizziness
